Happy Mothers Day Mom!
We so love and appreciate celebrating our Moms, even when they might be a heavenly angel! Today we share our Happy Mothers Day gift ideas and ways to show your appreciation to the mothers in your life: the mother who not only birthed us, raised us, cared for us and loved on us, as well as our grandmothers, aunties and dear woman friends who also love and support us. Having had a great relationship with my mom, I celebrate her life every day, even though she has been my heavenly angel for the last 30 years.
In our family on Mother’s Day, my kids celebrate me by doing the things I love doing! Mothers Day is usually around my birthday, so I get a two-for treat! I love taking an early morning hike and coming home to a yummy brunch. We might also do a family dinner as well. My favorite gift is time spent with our daughters whether it’s an outing in nature, bike riding and gathering around the kitchen table. We also get to honor Grandma Betty at 93, Tim’s mom raised not only 6 kids, she was a mom figure for me since I was 15! Both my mom Evy and Betty continue to be rays of light to my soul…
What better way to say Happy Mothers Day and show our love to our moms than doing something with her and for her…capturing exactly what will bring her joy on Mother’s Day! Gifts as simple as being together, sharing a meal and a heartfelt love message. Oh, how I love and appreciate a love note!
And Yes, there are some moms who need more than just showing up or giving them a love note. And THAT too is OK. The point is, to show appreciation for our moms no matter the relationship or feelings. We get to honor our mothers and love them unconditionally on this day for who they are, the lessons they’ve taught us or teach us on the daily.
Here are a few ideas for you to show up and celebrate your incredible mom and role model.
TANTALIZE MOM’S TASTE BUDS.
Hopefully you know your Moms favorites and things she enjoys. So, Happy Mothers Day can be in the form of food, making her a meal, baking her a treat. If you don’t know what she likes, our likes do change change over time, ASK your mom. I know it may seem so simple, but many people are afraid to ask. If my mom taught me one thing , that is to ask or you don’t get! So, I encourage you to ask mom her likes.
A few wonderful Happy Mothers Day gift ideas are…IF your Mom loves coffee, bring her a wonderful cup from her favorite coffee spot or if you live with your mom, brew her a batch of a yummy coffee! For me, I love tea! Especially a Matcha latte or Chai! There’s something so delicious about our Homemade Chai Tea! Especially served with our favorite Pecan Scones and homemade Strawberry Jam!
Think breakfast or brunch might be a great start to her day? Cook up her favorite breakfast or brunch foods. If she loves eggs, for sure make her our Crustless Quiche or a Power Greens Frittata. Or maybe our Cherry or Strawberry muffins topped with some fresh strawberry jam! Ohlalal! A huge hit where ever we take these scrumptious goodies to share!
Lunch? Depending on if you are making or taking her to dinner, or maybe this is your big meal or brunch lunch gathering? Make a wonderful garden salad topped with our salmon patties or a Strawberry Salad with Sherry Vinaigrette! And dessert? How about some Lemon Berry Squares! YUM!
Dinner? Oh, the list is endless and if you don’t own a copy yet, Damn Good Gluten Free is not only a great resource for so many ideas for dinner, but if Mom loves to dabble in cooking it also makes a GREAT gift idea! ☺ For dinner, I try to minimize the cooking. Dinner can be as simple as a beautiful fish dinner, veggies and a salad. Ending with a spectacular Strawberry Pie! Topped with Homemade Whipped Cream. If not strawberry, if chocolate is her favorite, try this show stopper of a decadent cake or a simple and easy to prep ahead Chocolate Volcano Soufflé!
SHOWER HER… with gifts from your heart. Make homemade Happy Mothers Day gifts to shower your mom, a special gift only you can create. Write a beautiful heartfelt Mother’s Day card. Prepare Mom a special meal with some of the ideas from above! Choose Moms favorite recipes, treats, breakfasts or lunch… Not the baker or a cook? Maybe Mom would like to improve her kitchen skills or is new to gluten free lifestyle, gift a Curry Girls Kitchen Damn Good in the Kitchen course! Or get a copy for Damn Good Gluten Free for some great advice and wisdom. Buy her a thoughtful gift, something she would really want to have. Again, ask her if there are things she might need or want… Pegs is really good at sending a text of the things she needs or wants. But all the girls know what Pegs wants most… and that is time spent with us hiking, doing a fun activity and gathering around the table with some amazing food! LOL!
TREAT HER…Maybe mom lives in another state, country or not near you. Send her your Happy Mother’s Day wishes to capture her heart. Perhaps Mom might love a beautiful crystal, piece of art, a fun book to read or even a massage, facial or a total spa day! Think about fun things you’ve noticed that she could use or she’s told you about… like a new pair of workout pants, a pair of sneakers or hiking poles! What things does your mom do, plays Mah-jongg, bridge, golf, tennis, swims? Any of those activities gives you a lot of ways to get her something that she can wear or use for the activities she loves doing.
GO. HAVE. FUN. Together ♥️
A great way to say I love you and Happy Mothers Day is to plan a special time together or an excursion! When was the last time you took your mom away and had a sleep over together? Ask her first would she like that? Um, Peg is all in always for that LOL ☺. Time away together is not always easy, and it could be the gift you give that you plan for. Make a beautiful card with a coupon in it! Pegs LOVES coupons!!! And loves redeeming them! Take in the sights, bike, find a fun new restaurant, shop small eclectic stores in a new town close by, museums, botanical gardens, beach walks, hikes in nature, mani/pedi, yoga, a dance or exercise, painting or ceramic class. Volunteer together for a group she donates too. So many ways to spend time together on a budget.
More ways to spend ZERO dollars!
Heck what about helping her organize a room or her computer! Seriously there are so many gifts you never need to spend a dime! And sometimes those are the best gifts of all, TIME helping her with a project she’s been stuck on doing, do it with her! A HUGE gift!
At the end of the day, TIME together is the greatest gift of all. Because one day you won’t have the opportunity to have your MOM. It’s a reminder Pegs always shares. We don’t get each other for forever. Our Mom has done the best she knew how to raise her kids. If you’re a new or seasoned mom, at the end of the day, your MOM is YOUR MOM. Perfectly imperfect. Finding gratitude for your mom or a grandma, mothers in law, dear mom friends or to a woman who is like your mom, an Aunt… any woman you can share with them your love and appreciation is a gift to their soul and spirit.
The one thing we can do, is share our love as often as possible.
May you be blessed this season. And may we all celebrate our wonderful MOMS.
Meg and I honor you, your family and the beautiful women, mothers and mothers to be in our community.
May your life be filled with joy, health, happiness, love and peace. And May you forever feel the love from your mom…
We love you to the moon…and beyond!
With Deep Love and Blessings to you and all the moms of the world 💝
Peggy and Megan
What can I say instead of Happy Mother’s Day?
I celebrate you Mom! I honor you Mom! I appreciate you Mom! Here’s to a Wonderful Mother’s Day! Cheer’s to a wonderful Mom. I am Grateful for you Mom. To My Forever Mom.
What is the best message for mom?
Tell your Mom how much you love and appreciate her.
Mom let’s spend time together.
Why is Mother’s Day on May 8th?
It’s not always on May 8th. It depends on the year. Some years Mother’s Day is on the weekend before May 8th or the weekend after. It usually falls on the Sunday near and around May 8th. May 8th is Pegs birthday! ☺
