December and January were abundant months. I was traveling in Australia and got home right before Christmas, then from New Years we jumped right into our Cleansing with Food workshops… And we took the holidays to really enjoy our time with our family. We hope you can forgive us! During this time we got super inspired from all my travels – there are LOTS of delicious recipes about to come your way! Just like this Red Velvet Latte!
To make this red velvet color, we used beetroot powder. Beetroot powder is a great source of natural energy. It is high in antioxidants, and extremely beneficial for our blood. You can read more about the benefits of beets from Dr Mercola HERE.
While traveling in Australia I discovered my love for beetroot powered. They added this ingredient in so many things, especially sprinkled on bowls and in lattes! It is naturally sweet and extremely mild in flavor. You can sweeten it up or make it savory. I loved adding it into this creamy latte for a different boost of energy first thing in the morning!

Ingredients for Red Velvet Latte
Makes 2 10oz. lattes
16 oz. Nut Milk of choice (homemade recipe)
2 scoops of beetroot powder (we used Dr. Mercola’s)
2 Tablespoons Coconut cream
2 Teaspoons Honey
Optional: dried rose petals, cinnamon, vanilla extract, lemon zest or 1 drop of lemon essential oil.
- In a small pot, heat the nut milk and coconut cream until lightly boiling.
- Once hot, remove from heat. Add in beetroot and honey.
- Using an immersion blender, regular blender*, or frother, mix all ingredients together until nice and creamy. Foam should begin to form on top.
- If you are adding lemon zest, essential oil, vanilla, or cinnamon you can mix in now as well.
- Pour into two mugs and sprinkle dried rose petals on top. Enjoy immediately!
*Note: if you use a regular blender, be extremely careful of the steam while blending the hot liquid!
